Conservatory Theatre Workshops cover unique topics that will prepare aspiring actors for what they will encounter in their theatre and stage career. Workshops also provide an incredible and unique opportunity to study with a seasoned professional performer. Registration in previous drama or theatre classes is NOT required in order to join our workshops.

Theatre Workshops are great samplers before joining group Musical Theatre & Drama classes or if you missed our Fall & Winter Term registration deadlines. Musical Theatre & Drama programs typically only take new students in September and sometimes in January (depending on if spaces are available).

About Our Instructor - Karen Rose has lived and worked as a professional actor and stage performer in London (England), Vancouver, and Toronto. Rose now calls Regina her home. She creates a fun and nurturing environment where your child can learn and expand acting, voice, movement, and improvisation skills. She loves working with young actors!

Fall 2025 Term Workshop Themes

  • Week 1 & 2 - Improv and Theatre Games - develop the essential qualities of acting by freeing up the mind, body and voice to be more creative with choices and instincts. And, as with all the workshops, this will build confidence, while having fun in the process!
  • Week 3 - Acting Fundamentals - we will explore the foundation of acting. We will practice and develop the skills for warming up the body and the voice. We will have fun with improvisation and games as we explore and rehearse theatre scenes.
  • Week 4 - Scene Study - act with a partner in a scene to develop dramatic, comedic timing with intention while building your acting skills. Either practice with the friend you signed up with or meet a new friend throughout the weeks!

Winter 2026 Term Workshop Themes

  • Week 1 - Improv and Theatre Games - develop the essential qualities of acting by freeing up the mind, body and voice to be more creative with choices and instincts. And, as with all the workshops, this will build confidence, while having fun in the process!
  • Week 2 - Sketch Comedy - we will employ theatre games, jokes, parody, life experience and everything that makes us smile and laugh. In this fun workshop we will improvise and play to create and perform short sketches as we explore concepts and situations, with a special emphasis on developing characters.
  • Week 3 - Monologues - learn how to prepare for and speak a monologue with confidence. A monologue is an acting scene that only has one person. Discover techniques for memorization, acting, and character development.
  • Week 4 - Preparing for an Audition - learn how to prepare for and how to audition with confidence and calmness. Monologue, sight readings, and improvisational skills will be studied. Be ready for anything a director may ask of you - and get the part!
