Cello Lessons with Catherine Folstad
Catherine Folstad is a cello teacher and performer living and working in Regina, SK on Treaty 4 territory. Catherine's primary goal as a music teacher is to nurture a lifelong love of music with each student. In addition to helping students build strong technical foundations, she encourages students to:
- Explore their creativity, interests and imagination
- Learn different genres and styles of music
- Improvise and create
- Incorporate technology
- Collaborate and work together
- Be part of and contribute to the Regina musical community
She believes that learning music is a process, not an end goal. Music lessons are a wonderful way to develop important transferable skills that students can carry with them for the rest of their lives, as well as a lifelong love of music.
Catherine completed a Master’s of Music degree at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Her primary cello teachers include Thomas Wiebe, Cameron Lowe, Heather Lowe-Conley, and Barbara Fitzpatrick.
