As an avid performer and teacher, Dr. Vanessa Klassen has performed and presented at music festivals such as the International Clarinet Association's ClarinetFest®, the Brandon University Clarinet Festival, and Klarinet Kerfuffle (Saskatoon, SK). She recently performed the world premiere of Paul Suchan's "Middle of Somewhere" alongside the University of Saskatchewan Jazz Ensemble. In addition to performing and operating a private woodwind studio, Vanessa creates fun arrangements for woodwind ensembles which are sold worldwide, also featuring her own recordings on her YouTube channel, "ClarinetColours." Dr. Klassen's passion for music and teaching has emanated from her principal clarinet teachers: Dr. Caroline Hartig (The Ohio State University), Dr. Catherine Wood (Brandon University), and Steve Mealey (Kindersley, SK). Vanessa will be joining the Regina Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2023 after winning the Assistant Principal Clarinet position.
