Flute Lessons with Marie-Noelle Berthelet
Marie-Noelle Berthelet is the principal flautist of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, a position she has been enjoying since 2004 when she moved from her native province of Quebec. As a soloist, she has performed several concertos by Reinecke, Griffes, Chaminade, Godard, Vivaldi, Mozart and Liebermann with different ensembles through Canada. She is an active member of Per Sonatori, a period instrument ensemble, where she plays the baroque flute, the recorder and helps developing concerts. Former student of Jacques Zoon and Jeanne Baxtresser at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, she was also awarded the Governor General's Medal for her studies in flute interpretation at the Conservatoire de Musique de Trois-Rivières. Since, Marie-Noelle has kept expending her knowledge in orchestral auditions, baroque performance and education through several research projects and a diploma at the Université de Montréal.
Her studio at the University of Regina and at the Conservatory of Performing Arts includes 17 young dedicated flautists. She teaches various fields of studies: classical performance, chamber music, music education, pop music influences. Her teaching focuses on expending learning skills, developing creativity, stage performance as well as creating projects and concerts.
An active musician in the orchestral, chamber music and new music scene, her playing is characterized by great fluidity and sensitivity: “As far as Berthelet’s performance, it only lends further credence to the credibility of the organization [Regina Symphony Orchestra] that one of their own is able to so easily capture the ears and hearts of their audience in a manner that one would expect from their most decorated guest artists.” – Leader Post, February 13, 2012, Liebermann concerto performance.
