A veteran pianist with over thirty years of experience in accompanying and teaching, Hyunju has played alongside a diverse array of musicians and performers.

Hyunju served as the accompanist for the Gyunggido Women’s Choir in Suwon, South Korea for four years, was the piano and organ accompanist for the choirs of four different churches in Suwon, Ottawa, and Regina for twenty years. She has also accompanied soloists at numerous competitions, alongside cellists, violinists, flutists, clarinetists and vocalists.

Beyond her extensive career as an accompanist, Hyunju is also a seasoned piano teacher. With over thirty years of experience, Hyunju continues to teach countless students of all ages and skill levels in every facet of piano-playing, from fundamentals, theory, and classical music to chords, contemporary pieces, and accompaniment.

Hyunju graduated from Dongduk Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea with a Bachelor of Music in 1993, and studied a Master of Music Therapy at Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul for one year (1998-1999).

Who should play with Hyunju?

Age of Student: Ages 6 and up

Skill levels: Beginner and Intermediate

Genres: Classical, Theory and accompaniment with piano chords. Any Genre the student wants and likes.

Expectations: Students are encouraged to participate in recitals. Depending on their goals and interests, they can participate in exams and music festivals. Students are expected to practice everyday of the week.

Supplies Required: According to student's experience and goals. Beginners usually use the book "Piano Adventures."

Average Lesson Length: 45 and 60 minutes

30-Minute Lesson Rate: $32 * Private Lessons range from $28.50-35.50 and are based on previous education and experience.
