YSTR2 - Conservatory Youth String Program - Violin (Ages 3-10)
Ages: 3-10
**This course is for violin students in the Youth Strings program. If your child is a cello player, go to the Conservatory Youth Strings Program - Cello (Ages 3-10) to register.**
The Conservatory Youth Strings Program (formerly Child/Parent Strings) offers the best in early string instruction under the leadership of instructors in our String Studios.
Running as a supplement to Music - Private Lessons in violin or cello, children start with one-on-one lessons then move into the group program when you are set-up with your instrument. Violin/Cello Group classes meet once a week encouraging polishing performance pieces, reviewing repertoire, and building community.
This is a family program, which means an adult (ex: parent, grandparent, or other adult caregiver) attends lessons and classes with your child. Family learning is the key to a successful start in learning violin or cello! You also don't need to know violin or cello before joining the programs - you will learn along with your child.
On the first day of class, we meet together for our Youth Strings Program Family Meeting & Open House to go over expectations and introductions to instructors. The exact meeting time and room location will be sent out the first week of classes.
This course is for:
- 1st year violin students led by Karley Parovsky (ages 3-8) - 6:30-7:00pm (Group Class), there is no Musicianship class for 1st year students
- 2nd year or higher violin students led by Jonathan Ward (ages 4-9) - 5:25-5:55pm (Group Class), 6-6:30pm (Musicianship)
- 3rd year or higher violin students led by Rudolf Sternadel (ages 5-10) - 6-6:30pm (Musicianship), 6:30-7:00pm (Group Class)
Musicianship classes are led by September Russell. Click on the "+" plus sign besides the section options and check the time and instructor(s) listed to ensure you are registering for the right group class for your child.
Once your child graduates out of this program they join the Conservatory Youth String Orchestra. Ask your instructor if the Conservatory Youth String Orchestra or the Youth Strings Program is right for them.
It is recommend your child registers for Music - Private Lessons at the Conservatory of Performing Arts to be involved in this program, as our instructors follow the same curriculum in their Private Lesson studios connected to this group class. You can register in Private Lessons at anytime of the year.
Not sure if your child is interested in violin or cello? Try out a weekend Introduction to Strings Workshop to learn about both instruments before you make a choice.
