BBP4A - Beginner Bagpipe for Adults
Ages: 16+
You DO NOT need to be Scottish to participate! Scottish piping is a unique and culturally rich musical style performed around the world.
Learn from instructor Iain MacDonald as you venture into this unique instrument family. Participants in Beginner Bagpipe for Adults start on a practice chanter to learn basic fingering and breathing techniques then move onto the pipes later in their studies. A practice chanter is no louder than a recorder or tin/penny whistle, perfect for practicing and making mistakes without the worry of the volume of the bagpipes! Exact instruments and suggested music purchases will be recommended on the first class.
If you have previous bagpipe experience, you can join our Bagpipe Studies (ensemble for adults of intermediate/advanced playing skills) or our Music - Private Lessons (one-on-one bagpipe lessons to study at your own pace). If you have a child ages 8+, please have them join our Conservatory Pipe Band - 1st Year Students program where beginners learn in group lessons on practice chanters with instructors teaching with our award winning Conservatory Pipe Band.
