RCO - Regina Community Orchestra
Ages: 13+
The Regina Community Orchestra, directed by Adrian Casas, welcomes seniors, adults and young amateur musicians interested in playing orchestral music in a fun and safe environment. The orchestra provides opportunity to play music you enjoy, develop your musical skills, socialize with others who have similar interests, and perform and entertain for the community.
This course is open to anyone without audition; however, basic instrumental and musical skills are necessary since the orchestra's principal objective is performance rather than instruction. (TIP: Try Music - Private Lessons or Music - Group Programs to get orchestra-ready!) All orchestral instruments are welcome including orchestral winds (clarinet/oboe/flute/piccolo/bassoon/saxophone), brass (trumpet/tuba/baritone/trombone/french horn), strings (cello/violin/viola/double bass) and percussion (drum kit/timpani/marimba/xylophone/piano/harp and others).
Note: if you have been away from your instrument for a few years or if this is your child's first experience with an orchestra we recommend they take our introductory course at the same time as Regina Community Orchestra in the fall term: Introduction to Orchestra. This introduction provides an opportunity for more one on one time with our director to ask questions and review parts, delves into some orchestral theory and musicianship, and generally prepares you or your child for a positive first semester in orchestra.

Adrian Casas is a vibrant and active member of the music community in Saskatchewan through his work as an educator, performer, and conductor. He has gained widespread recognition in the province for his immaculate conducting technique, inspiring performances, and engaging presence on the podium. His method of teaching and conducting has fostered an inclusive and welcoming environment for all who wish to learn and perform music. He co-founded Concertino Regina, a chamber music organization that promotes the continuing education and professional development of musicians, delivers free conducting instructional videos through Virtual Sheet Music, and was a Saskatchewan Orchestral Association board member before becoming the president in 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his leadership in Saskatchewan Orchestral Association has been crucial to the survival of the orchestral community in the province.
