IORCH - Introduction to Orchestra
Ages: 13+
Introduction to Orchestra is a course taken concurrently (at the same time) with registration in the Regina Community Orchestra, directed by Adrian Casas. Introduction to Orchestra is a friendly and welcoming space for adults who have been away from their instrument for many years and are returning to orchestra AND for young musicians who will be playing for the first time with a full orchestra (ex: students graduating from String Orchestra or those who have only played in a school band program). Like our orchestra, this class is for seniors, adults and young amateur musicians interested in playing orchestral music in a fun and safe environment.
This course must be taken at the same time with Regina Community Orchestra.
All orchestral instruments are welcome including orchestral winds (clarinet/oboe/flute/piccolo/bassoon/saxophone), brass (trumpet/tuba/baritone/trombone/french horn), strings (cello/violin/viola/double bass) and percussion (drum kit/timpani/marimba/xylophone/piano/harp and others).
This program is only offered in the Fall Term to get you set-up with the basics for orchestral playing for the rest of the year.
This program is supported in part by the Saskatchewan Band Association and Saskatchewan Orchestral Association.
