CTRC3 - Walking Alongside Indigenous Children and Youth in Schools
Students will understand the unique characteristics of Indigenous trauma in urban and rural settings. Students will understand key trauma-informed practices that support Indigenous children, youth, and their families in schools. Students will understand how systemic racism and ongoing oppression continue to shape Indigenous children and youth’s experiences in schools. Students will learn to interrupt dominant narratives, and ‘the’ curriculum through using two-eyed seeing.
Skills/Competencies:

Students will learn how to shape physical, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of classrooms as supportive of Indigenous students. Students will be able to identify and shift aspects of their own practice to better serve and support Indigenous students.

Students will draw on trauma-informed practices and principles and examine them through anti-colonial, anti-oppressive lenses.
