YSTR1 - Conservatory Youth String Program - Violin and Cello 1st Year or Higher (Ages 3-10)

The Conservatory Youth Strings Program (formerly Child/Parent Strings) offers the best in early string instruction under the leadership of instructors in our String Studios.
Running as a supplement to Music - Private Lessons in violin or cello, children start with one-on-one lessons then move into the group program when you are set-up with your instrument. Violin/Cello Group classes meet once a week encouraging polishing performance pieces, reviewing repertoire, and building community.
This is a family program, which means an adult (ex: parent, grandparent, or other adult caregiver) attends lessons and classes with your child. Family learning is the key to a successful start in learning violin or cello! You also don't need to know violin or cello before joining the programs - you will learn along with your child.
On the first day of class, Tuesday, September 12 all classes will meet together from 6:30-7:00pm for our Youth Strings Program Family Meeting & Open House to go over expectations for the year and introductions to instructors. After that, you will be assigned to your instructor and split into your groups.
This course is for:
- 1st year violin students led by Karley Parovsky (ages 3-8) - meeting in CB 110 from 6:30-7:00pm
- All cello students (regardless of level) led by Alaina Majewski (ages 3-10) - meeting in CB 108 from 6:30-7:00pm. If this group is large enough, we will split cello students by level and hire an additional instructor.

Once your child graduates out of this program they join the Conservatory Youth String Orchestra. Ask your instructor if the Conservatory Youth String Orchestra or the Youth Strings Program is right for them.
It is recommend your child registers for Music - Private Lessons at the Conservatory of Performing Arts to be involved in this program, as our instructors follow the same curriculum in their Private Lesson studios connected to this group class. You can register in Private Lessons at anytime of the year.

If you or your child does not already have an account, our Student & Instructor Services Non-Credit Office will create an account for you or your child and login information will be e-mailed prior to the course starting.
